Tatiana has worked with many people struggling with substance use disorders and has learned that despite their best efforts, they often can't help themselves through willpower alone. The question is, why?
Through her own experiences, Tatiana discovered that people become victims of their environment, trapped in the stories they create in their minds. These internal dialogues, though not rooted in reality, push individuals toward unhealthy addictions. They remain stuck in a cycle until there is a break through treatment or, tragically, death. Negative media programming further erodes emotional intelligence among addicts. The most important realization Tatiana has had is that everyone has the power to make choices. These choices don’t have to be based on fleeting thoughts or emotions. Unfortunately, many people create flimsy excuses to justify their addictions.
Reflecting on her own journey, it took Tatiana years to truly understand herself, the nature of addiction, and how to overcome it. She has since combined her life experiences and education to develop a successful method for empowering others to overcome addiction. Tatiana teaches people how to transform excuses into positive actions.
She often refers to the saying, "Birds of a feather flock together" and "You can’t soar with the eagles if you’re flying with turkeys." Tatiana has incorporated these simple yet powerful philosophies into her coaching.
As an active addict, Tatiana struggled with self-esteem issues and mental illness, constantly searching for belonging and love. She realized that true fulfillment didn’t come from external validation. Although her recovery journey continues, Tatiana believes that a person’s identity is not fixed but constantly evolving. Every day is a discovery of new possibilities. For her, moving forward with courage and passion—embracing pain and fear as part of life—is the key to joy and purpose. Tatiana now teaches her clients to overcome insecurities and build lasting foundations for recovery, sharing the lessons she learned from both the classroom and the streets. She helps people recognize that substance use is a symptom of deeper issues, and that personal accountability is crucial to recovery.
In addition to her work with Onward Forever Inc., Tatiana aims to make a difference for young people in New York State schools. She founded a non-profit organization, The Natalie Foundation LLC, in memory of her best friend, Natalie, who passed away from a drug overdose at just 18 years old in 2008.
The Natalie Foundation will provide workshops in high schools across New York State, promoting recovery, raising awareness, empowering youth, and connecting them to resources. The foundation will also support individuals starting their recovery by offering a safe, caring environment to grow. Sober living plays a vital role in the recovery process, helping people become productive members of society, build healthy relationships, feel good about themselves, and face the world with a clear mind.
